Wonderfully Romantic First Wedding Anniversary Ideas

As the saying goes, time flies when you’re having fun and the first year as a newlywed couple seems to come and go in the blink of an eye. As the years go by, wedding anniversaries begin to sneak up on you and before you know it, you and your partner will be going out for dinner again or even not celebrating it at all, so you need to make the most out of the first romantic anniversaries whilst you still can and feel motivated to do so.

Celebrating an anniversary doesn’t need to be a huge thing and doesn’t always need to cost a fortune. Sure, a trip to a romantic city sounds great, but it is costly – especially when you are probably still paying off your wedding day! There are plenty of other hugely romantic ideas you can do for your first wedding anniversary which needn’t cost much money and focus instead on the two of you as a married couple.

Recreate Your Wedding Menu

In the run-up to your big day, you and your partner probably spent hours tasting and choosing your wedding menu and so many couples on the big day are so overwhelmed by everything that they never truly enjoy their meal.

Your first wedding anniversary is a great opportunity for you to recreate your first meal as a married couple and is something that you are likely to remember more than the actual meal you had on your wedding day! Whether you decide to go out shopping to a nice supermarket for the ingredients and cook it yourself or ask the catering company to come in and prepare it for you, be sure to make an evening of it.

Do Something New

Going out for dinner somewhere is nice, but it’s neither anything new or exciting. Sure, you don’t have to cook and it’s nice to get away from it all for an hour or two, but for your first wedding anniversary why not do something new and memorable?

If you like dining out, but fancy something a little different, look for a unique dining experience or even a cookery class for a fun evening together. For something with a little more adrenaline, you could try axe throwing or go on a skyline adventure course. Whatever you decide to do, pick something which neither of you has done before!

Buy A Traditional Anniversary Gift

Each anniversary comes with its own traditional gift and if you’re struggling for a gift idea, this is always a good place to start and you can use it to create something unique and special for your partner.

For a first anniversary, the traditional gift is paper and, whilst this may sound tricky to begin with, it’s actually a great gift which you can put your own twist on. Whether it be a paper ticket for a concert, a photo album with some of your favourite pictures, a keepsake framed poster of the lyrics of the song from your first dance or even just a paper gift bag filled with items such as luxury jewellery, their favourite snacks or a bottle of champagne, this is your first anniversary, so you should try and make it as special as you can.
