Well, the lockdown has been long, frustrating, stressful and just downright boring. Its time for some fun in the sun. With restrictions loosening across the UK it is becoming more of a reality that we may be able to go on holiday in 2021 after all. If you haven’t taken your child away yet or have had a baby during the lockdown and just need to get away, it can be a headache remembering the essentials when taking your infant on holiday. In this article, we will go through the 5 most essential items to bring to make your life as a parent easier when going on your travels.
A Stroller or Pushchair
Whilst an all-terrain pushchair would be ideal due to them being great on rough terrain, it isn’t the most practical item to bring on a holiday, especially if you are boarding a plane. A better-suited alternative is a good quality stroller, yes, they are better suited for city breaks but they will also do the job on rough terrains. The biggest tip we can give you is to get something that is lightweight and easily foldable… you will be doing it a lot.
A Baby Changing Bag
This may be an obvious essential item for parenthood, but you will be surprised how many people forget to take them. Having a high-quality changing bag will save you time and money having to buy different bags for different trips. The great thing about getting a changing bag is that you can get them in all different materials, colours and sizes so that it matches your personality and style. If you are looking for something a little bit more luxurious, then you can always pick up designer baby changing bags to go with your nice new stroller.
A Wide Brim Hat
The sun is dangerous, and it is even more dangerous for little ones. Protecting your child from the sun is the biggest priority any parent has when going on holiday. The best way to do this is by having a wide brim hat like a bucket hat or a cap that has a neck protector on it. Always have a spare with you as we all know they just disappear without a trace. If you think it’s going to be chilly, then bring a woolly hat just in case.
Sunscreen
Sunscreen is another necessity for children and adults. The difference is that adults skin is used to the UV rays and children aren’t. This is why it’s extremely important to pick up some sunscreen for yourself as well as a different one for your child. It must be at least factor 15 and protect from UV and UVB rays. If your child is younger than 6 months then the child needs to be kept out of the sun completely.
Swim Nappies
So the family is at the beach or the pool, all settled and then realise that you haven’t packed any nappies for swimming, what do you do? Well, you could either search the whole holiday destination or you could be smart, and have them already packed. Swim nappies are not easy to come by in other countries so its best to be ahead of the game and pack some before you leave for the airport. There’s nothing worse than being hot and sweaty and not being able to go in the water to cool off. Kids love to have a splash in the water too so it is best to have all your essentials ready so you can relax and enjoy the family holiday rather than walking around everywhere to pick up items that have been forgotten.
