Every relationship should keep that initial sparkle for as long as possible. Maybe you have been in a relationship for quite some time now or you have just found a new girlfriend. However, the rules are pretty much the same – in order to keep your girlfriend happy, you need to resort to some romantic actions from time to time.
It doesn’t have to be a complex idea – just a sweet sign of affection to show her how much you care and appreciate her. If you have run out of ideas, here are a couple of examples for every pocket and every type of person -most of these ideas will definitely do the trick.
- Make a photo album of photos of you as a couple
Under the condition that you have been together for some time now, you probably have a lot of photos taken together on different occasions. Make an effort and make a cute photo album of your best and most cherished photos together and end it with a warm message at the end, saying you can’t wait to make new memories with her. Don’t forget to symbolically leave a couple of pages blank for future photos.
- Write her a love letter
The past times when men and women used to write love letters are long gone, but that doesn’t mean you can’t revive them at least once. Your girlfriend will be delighted by your effort and will appreciate the thought. It doesn’t matter if you have bad handwriting – just pour your feelings out on a piece of paper – it’s both very romantic and honest. Your girlfriend won’t be able to stay indifferent to this unexpected outburst of feelings in a form of a letter.
- Put a note into her pocket
Write a message on a little note and put it in the pocket of her jacket or jeans, where you’ll know she will find it during the day. It can be a simple “I love you” or something more specific, like “Can’t wait to see you tonight” or “You always look sexy in that jacket”. It will definitely make her smile.
- Surprise her with your special song
If the two of you have a special song, set it as her alarm one morning – let her wake up with the melody that reminds her of your love. You can also put parts of the lyrics around the house or in her bag where you know she will eventually find it. It can be by the coffee maker, next to her toothbrush or in her wallet.
- Arrange a weekend getaway
Surprise her with a romantic weekend somewhere not too far away. Before you book a room and the transport, make sure she doesn’t have any important and unavoidable plans for that weekend. Prepare everything before she gets home – pack the suitcases and do all the chores, so that she only has to take the bag and go with you.

You probably know what some of her favourite things are, like her favourite perfume, skin product, nail polish or a scented candle. Prepare her a gift basket where you’ll put a couple of things that you’ll know she enjoys.
- Send her flowers to work
This will never get old – women simply love flowers and they enjoy receiving them. No matter where she is at the moment, you can surprise her with a wonderful bouquet, even if she is out of the country. She can get the flowers in Melbourne, in New York or in London – it doesn’t matter where she is on her business trip – it will brighten her day to know that you are thinking of her and missing her while she’s away.
- Take her on a picnic
If you know the weather will be nice, take her for a walk and find a place with a great view. Take a blanket with you, and some food and wine and enjoy nature and each other’s company.
- Pamper her
If you notice she’s tired, help her relax. A foot massage would be great. You can also prepare her a warm bubble bath: light up the candles for her and play music she likes. Let her be alone for a while and who knows – maybe she’ll invite you to join her.

On your way to her, stop by the store and buy her favourite candy or chocolate. It doesn’t sound like a big thing, but it will definitely lighten up her mood instantly.

Everybody likes chocolate, so make a chocolate fondue one evening and arrange pieces of fruits around it. Feed each other with it and spend a romantic evening.

This is a great idea for two reasons: first, it will show her you know what she likes and you want for the two of you to enjoy together. Secondly, she will like it because it will give her the opportunity to dress up and look elegant – don’t miss the chance to compliment on her looks.

A couple of love coupons for her to use whenever she likes is a great idea. They don’t have to represent big things, but little things that mean a lot. For example, one can be used for a massage, one for letting you do all the chores or for a movie night with her favourite films.
